Being an ancestral Galician tradition, Rapa das Bestas begins on the end of Spring/beggining of Summer gathering all the wild horses that lives in the forest with the purpose of cutting their manes and make an higyenic treatment to avoid problems through the year. The most striking part of the tradition is that which is made by the "Aloitadores", people who "fight" with the horses to immobilize them and make the whole process.
The captured "Rapa" in this images is celebrated in "Sierra da Capelada" a place located in the North of Galicia and is home of the tallest cliffs in Europe and the famous town called "San Andrés de Teixido".
